Course Overview
" Those who fail to plan, plan to fail." - Benjamin Franklin.
Strategic Planning is an organized approach to plan and control the activities of an organization to accomplish specific aims. A strategic plan provides a framework around which to organize and focus your efforts to maximize the chances for success. Effective strategic planning helps to avoid the old adage, “Those who fail to plan, plan to fail”.
Strategic Planning to not just for large companies but also for startup and small businesses looking to grow. Having a good strategic plan is especially important for businesses that wish to seek outside funding.
This short course outlines a process to develop a Strategic Plan for a company or organization flowing “top down” from vision, to goals, strategies and tactics. It is critical that each element reflect the organization and be embraced by the organization in order to be effective.
The class day consists of classroom presentations and discussion along with in-class work sessions. Each student will receive the class workbook and worksheets in both hard copy and electronic format for your use in the class and after. By the end of the day, you will have the first draft of your key strategic plan elements and the tools necessary to refine and implement that plan.
